This small vintage boutique hotel has been operated by the same family for three generations. It's also in a location central to historic Whitehorse; overlooking the Yukon River across from the handsome (now defunct) rail station. A favorite of traveling business people and government officials, the Edgewater has more polish than the other downtown hotels that focus on summer coach tours. Guest rooms are comfortably furnished: standard rooms have one bed but no air-conditioning (rarely an issue at this latitude), while deluxe rooms have two beds, double sinks, and A/C. The two suites are essentially one-bedroom apartments with full kitchens and two beds in the bedroom. All rooms have high-speed Internet, a flatscreen TV, fridge, and large work table. The Edgewater's two restaurants, including the Cellar Steakhouse & Wine Bar, are among Whitehorse's finest.
