The renowned Marlboro Music Festival has classical concerts, performed by accomplished masters as well as by highly talented younger musicians, on Saturdays and Sundays from mid-July to mid-August in the agreeable town of Marlboro, east of Wilmington on Route 9. The retreat was founded in 1951 and has hosted countless noted musicians, including Pablo Casals, who participated between 1960 and 1973. Concerts take place in the 700-seat auditorium at Marlboro College, and advance ticket purchases are strongly recommended. Call or write for a schedule and a ticket order form. Ticket prices usually range from about $15 to $35. Between late August and mid-June, contact the festival's winter office at Marlboro Music, 1616 Walnut St., Suite 1600, Philadelphia, PA 19103 (tel. 215/569-4690). In summer, write Marlboro Music, Box K, Marlboro, VT 05344, or call the box office (tel. 802/254-2394). The website is at www.marlboromusic.org.
