Cross-Country Skiing

The Mount Snow area offers excellent cross-country ski centers. The 9 miles of groomed trails at Timber Creek Cross-Country Touring Center (tel. 802/464-0999), in West Dover near the Mount Snow access road, are popular with beginners, and they hold snow nicely thanks to the high elevation. Tickets are $15 for adults, $9 for kids 12 and under. Hermitage Ski Touring Center (tel. 802/464-3511) attracts more advanced skiers to its varied terrain and 30 miles of trails. A trail pass costs $14. White House Ski Touring Center (tel. 800/541-2135 or 802/464-2135), at the inn of the same name on Route 100, has easy access to the Vermont woods, a good range of terrain, and 25 miles of trails. A pass costs $15; renting the aging equipment costs $10 per day. The center also maintains snowshoe trails (also $15 to use) and offers rentals for an additional $15 per day.
