Trail's End, located a short drive off Route 100 on 10 nicely tended acres, is located in an updated 1960s ski lodge with attractive rooms and abundant common space. The guest rooms are spotlessly clean, styled in a modern country fashion. Six feature fireplaces, two have Jacuzzis, and the suites are perfect for midwinter cocooning, with microwaves, refrigerators, and VCRs. The best? Maybe it's room 6, with a lovely fireplace and nice oak accents. Other good spots to linger include the main common room, with a 22-foot stone fireplace, the stone-floored library and game room, and the informal second-floor loft.
