L'Auberge Provençale ReviewExecutive chef Alain Borel and his vivacious wife, Celeste, have re-created the look, feel, and cuisine of Provence in this 1750s fieldstone farmhouse set on a hilltop with a view of the Blue Ridge. Three of the 11 guest rooms are in this building; antiques and beautiful fabrics complement the Colonial farmhouse's fine features. The remaining cozy accommodations, in an adjoining gray-clapboard addition, are individually decorated with Victorian and European pieces and lovely French Provincial-print fabrics. Exceptional works of fine art adorn the guest rooms. Alain uses the finest-quality ingredients from his own garden and local farmers to create his superb five-course prix-fixe dinners (reservations required). Even breakfast is a splendid repast, and Alain will provide a gourmet picnic lunch on request. No children younger than 10 need apply for a room here.
