Except for pub life, it's fairly quiet. The major cultural venue is Theatre Royal, Thames Street (tel. 01753/853888; www.theatreroyalwindsor.co.uk), with a tradition of putting on plays that goes back 2 centuries. The theater is one of the finest regional theaters in England, often drawing first-rate actors or stars from London's West End. During the 6 weeks preceding Christmas, a series of pantomimes are presented. The box office is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 8pm (call the phone number above for bookings). Performances are Monday to Saturday at 8pm, with matinees on Thursday at 2:30pm and Saturday at 4:45pm. Tickets cost between £12 and £120.
