Restaurants

An excellent place for a good Mediterranean restaurant (or a funky bar or eclectic shopping) is along Corydon Avenue, south of downtown across the Assiniboine River. Known as Little Italy, the area was settled by Italian immigrants and still has a strong continental feel, with lots of cafes and good people-watching. Many of the restaurants have outdoor courtyard seating in summer. Likewise, the Osborne Village area, just south of the Assiniboine River on Osborne St, is another nucleus of pubs and trendy, casual restaurants.

The Forks Market area is filled with inexpensive food stalls and places for a quick bit to eat. Also, both the Portage Place (on Portage Ave. between Vaughan and Carlton sts.) and cityplace shopping centers (at Graham Ave. and Donald St.) have large food courts.
