Situated in a lushly renovated, grand old stone-faced mansion -- once home to the family of Winnipeg businessman and mayor, J. H. Ashdown -- 529 Wellington serves up steaks, chops, and seafood in an elegant setting. Worthy starters include maple-smoked steelhead salmon or a salad of fire-roasted peppers with shaved garlic, herbs, and chèvre. Entrees include prime-graded Canadian beef, or any of a number of fresh seafood choices, ranging from Atlantic salmon or lobster to sushi-grade ahi tuna. To top things off, the award-winning wine list features about 400 selections.
