Stay here if modern comfort is important to you, but if you're looking for lakeside charm and a more old-fashioned ambience, book into the Seehotel. The Stadt Hamburg has three floors, three restaurants that offer the widest range of cuisine and best food in the area, an efficient English-speaking staff, and a desirable location on the main (and most historic) square in Wismar. The no-frills rooms are comfortable and contemporary. Each is rather boxy, but all are fitted with comfortable beds and bathrooms containing tub/shower combinations. There's even a traditional barrel-vaulted beer cellar from the 14th century where you can drink yourself silly, later recovering in the Finnish sauna.
