Frommer's Review
The setting here can't be beat. Housed in a restored 19th-century woolen mill with wonderful views of a waterfall, Simon Pearce is a collage of exposed brick, pine floorboards, and handsome wooden tables and chairs. Meals are served on Simon Pearce pottery and glassware -- if you like your place setting, you can buy it afterward at the sprawling retail shop in the mill. The atmosphere is a good mix of formal and informal. Lunch dishes include madras curry chicken salads, beef and Guinness stew, lamb burgers, shepherd's pie, and crispy calamari with field greens. At dinner, look for entrees such as horseradish-crusted cod, grilled steak with smoked sea salt, crispy roast duckling with mango chutney, roasted chicken with a sage bread pudding, or pan-roasted wild salmon.
