In a complex of Greek Revival buildings at a country crossroads, 5 miles south of Woodstock, the inn is run by Max and Merrily Comins, a cordial couple who offer guests a mix of history and country style. The attractive guest rooms in three buildings are furnished with both antiques and reproductions, and all have heirloom quilts from Merrily's collection; 15 feature wood-burning fireplaces, and 4 have Jacuzzis. The rooms in the newer, motel-like log building by the river are equally well furnished (and less expensive), with canopied beds, custom oak woodwork, and fireplaces. Room 37 even has a private streamside terrace. Rooms 12 and 17 are among the most popular; both suites have fireplaces and double Jacuzzis. Some Frommer's readers have noted that the inn's rooms can be on the cool side in deep winter.
