This is central Vermont's best full-scale resort. Located in an imposing brick structure off the town green, the inn appears to be a venerable and long-established institution at first glance. But it's not -- it wasn't built until 1969. The inn adopted a Colonial Revival look well suited for Woodstock. Inside, guests are greeted by a broad stone fireplace and sitting areas tucked throughout the lobby. Guest rooms are tastefully decorated in either country pine or a Shaker-inspired style. The best units, in the wing built in 1991, feature plush carpeting, fridges, and fireplaces.
