The Woodstocker B&B ReviewAt the foot of Mount Tom, this inn -- so yellow it's impossible to miss -- is owned by two cheerful ex-British publishing executives who display some mighty fine hospitality. They're slowly renovating with bright paints, stylish fixtures, and a sense of humor. The 1830s Cape Cod inn is eco-friendly, now offering beds fitted with organic duvets, recycled-paper tissues, energy-efficient lighting and appliances, and natural bath products. Pastel walls and lovely exposed wood floors predominate. There's also Wi-Fi access, a well-stocked library, and baskets of complimentary candy bars. The romantic bathroom in the Westminster unit features two cast-iron claw-foot tubs placed side by side beneath a skylight, while the Richmond suite's big recliners face a Bose home-theater system. And the whimsical Chelsea has a bright red Italian tub-and-sink combo. Breakfasts are a high point, featuring terrific homemade and locally sourced yogurt, fruit compote, porridge, sausage, bacon, and English-style cooked tomatoes and beans. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
