A 5-minute walk west of Worcester's cathedral, this hotel occupies the industrial-age premises of the Fownes Glove Factory (ca. 1892). A civic monument and source of income for many local residents until glove wearing went out of fashion, it was converted in the 1980s into Worcester's most interesting large hotel. Public rooms are attractively outfitted and are unified by a decorating theme that includes gilt-edged photographs of the hotel during its glove-making heyday. Bedrooms are cozy and furnished in a conservative English style that includes the wide or tall many-paned windows of the factory's original construction.
