Frommer's Review
The town's main hotel offers good budget rooms in the most convenient location possible, close to the ferry dock and right on the water's edge. Rooms sharing superb water views carry an $11 to $12 premium. You can watch the sunset on the ocean and hear water lapping the shore. The hotel has been a center of community activity for decades and, despite the building's age, attentive owners are keeping it in good shape. In 2007 rooms received new paint and window treatments and the beds were of good quality and had new linens. Housekeeping was flawless. Although our room had a problem with heat regulation, the rest of the hotel seemed fine.
The Stikine Inn Restaurant, after a series of changes in name and ownership, now has begun developing a reputation for pleasant casual dining on a small-town scale. The dining room is noticeably clean and bright and has a terrific view. We found the cuisine a bit inconsistent; best choices are the seafood chowder and the shrimp salad and other salads. The restaurant is open 7am to 9pm in the summer and dinner prices range from $7 to $22.
