Marmadukes ReviewJust a short walk from York Minster, this boutique hotel was created from a former "gentleman's residence" back in Queen Victoria's day. The hospitality is still old-fashioned, but the hotel has been completely modernized. Its intimate atmosphere remains, including antiques, oil paintings, oriental carpeting, and public lounges with comfortable sofas. The bathrooms are some of the best in town, many with clawfoot tubs. A two-bedroom Victorian apartment is also available. The hotel's on-site restaurant, Harvilles, is known for its chargrilled Aberdeen Angus beef steaks and its fresh fish.
