The former Banco de España building from the 19th century has led many lives. It was transformed into a rich merchant’s mansion in the early 20th century and later served as a newspaper headquarters. Just before the financial crisis struck, it was converted into a boutique hotel that retains the Art Nouveau decoration of the original building but upgrades the interiors in a minimalist modern style. Even the smallest rooms are spacious and airy, and the largest rooms are huge. Just a 2-minute walk from the Plaza Mayor, the location is ideal for sightseeing.
