Inside, a fire blazes in an unusual stucco fireplace in the salon. The Holleis family maintains the pleasant outdoor garden with its sun terrace for summer barbecues. Evening programs include dancing, playing the zither, and telling folk tales. Accommodations include suites with private saunas and open fireplaces. Rooms are carpeted and well maintained, if lacking in style; they have generous storage space and balconies with a nice view.

The hotel's restaurant serves some of the area's finest regional specialties. A 6-course fixed-price menu might include such classic dishes as cream of sauerkraut with smoked-meat dumplings, cream of black salsify (oyster plant) with truffled dumplings, and filet of jack salmon in a potato crust. Many of the chef's best dishes are fish from either the lake or the sea.
