Frommer's Review
Just a glimpse of the handcrafted interior of this government-rated five-star chalet-style hotel near the lake, and you know you're in for a treat. Inside a fire blazes in an unusual stucco fireplace in the salon. The Holleis family maintains the pleasant outdoor garden with its sun terrace for summer barbecues. Evening programs include dancing, playing the zither, and telling folk tales. Accommodations include suites with private saunas and open fireplaces. Rooms are carpeted and well maintained, if lacking in style; they have generous storage space and balconies with a nice view. The small bathrooms come with robes and tub/shower combinations.
The hotel's restaurant serves some of the area's finest regional specialties. A 6-course fixed-price menu costs 65€ ($85), and might include such classic dishes as cream of sauerkraut with smoked-meat dumplings, cream of black salsify (oyster plant) with truffled dumplings, and filet of jack salmon in a potato crust. Many of the chef's best dishes are fish from either the lake or the sea.
