This fairy-tale castle has been restored with its turreted towers intact, and now provides the most elegant accommodations on Lake Zell. Set in a park and completely isolated, the Schloss was built in 1425 and, since then, has been modified and improved over the years. It's not so much of a castle as a country house, and is painted white with red shutters. The bedrooms are furnished beautifully and comfortably, with authentic country pieces and antiques. Fabrics are elegant and tasteful, and some of the rooms are a bit dark because the windows are small. Opposite in a country house is an award-winning restaurant, serving classic Austrian cuisine. The service is top rate, and the welcome is one of the more inviting in the area.
