Rough wood-and-stone walls and an exposed-beam ceiling give this restaurant the look of an Old West saloon, but it's actually much more than that, with a family dining room, patio dining, and original art decorating the walls. The food here is also better than you'll find in the average saloon, closer to what we expect in a good Santa Fe restaurant. The menu changes seasonally and includes Mexican standards such as burritos, flautas, chiles rellenos, and a traditional chile stew with pork and rice. You'll also often find more exotic creations, such as pollo relleno, a grilled breast of chicken stuffed with cilantro pesto and goat cheese, served with pineapple salsa; and our personal favorites, braised beef short ribs and the steak or chicken fajitas. The Bit & Spur has full liquor service -- try the fresh fruit margaritas -- an extensive wine list, and an excellent variety of microbrewed beers.
