Kasbah Mohayut Review

Mohammed Oubadi and his family are the friendly, welcoming hosts in this rambling kasbah that used to be their home. Built in tabout throughout with ceilings supported by palm-tree beams, there are various room styles available, all of them simply furnished with low-lying beds covered with handmade textiles, a small lounge, and good-size bathrooms. The rooms aren't well lit with natural or artificial light, which keeps them cool, but nighttime readers will need to bring a light. Room nos. 11 and 12 are more recent additions, are poolside, and have their own fireplace. Tranquil inner courtyards connect the series of buildings within the walled kasbah, the largest courtyard housing the keyhole-shape pool surrounded by plenty of sun lounges and chairs. To accentuate the silence on the dunes, which come right up to the kasbah walls, the public areas, which include an air-conditioned restaurant (bring your own alcohol) and rooftop terrace, are concentrated at the front of the property away from the dunes. Four covered parking bays will be appreciated by self-drivers.

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
