Shroom: Thanks for sharing this.  We enjoyed our short time there, and he has some interesting, informative insights.  It's always nice to be able to combine one's own physical interface with a place and culture with the observations of someone who "knows" the place at a deeper level.

The Dutch are a reasonable and placid lot, it takes an exceptional situation to get them riled up. But here is a surefire way to get a Dutch person to yell nasty words at you (you may not understand them but the tone and demeanor will do it): Where there is a pedestrian sidewalk adjacent to a bike path, drift from the former onto the latter, and you'll get an earful!
