Good news for travelers: EU Parliament votes to ban roaming charges for phones
For those of you who, like me, travel with a smartphone and swap SIMs out every time I cross a border in Europe to avoid high charges—there's good news. The European Parliament voted the other day to require European mobile carriers to end roaming charges. Surveys have indicated that more than 90% of Europeans limit their use while traveling because of high per-minute charges.
There are also likely new restrictions coming on the cost of mobile data...good news for those of us who can't stop checking mail, maps and directions!
