Captain Train - What's Up?

by mquartz »

Man in Seat 61 and PHeymont recommend it, but on my first attempt at using the site, it fails miserably. States that there are only four trains daily from Warszawa Centralna to Kraków Glówny and that the quickest takes 6:40 hours, average being 7:31, listing connections with lengthy layovers. That's scary!

Rozklad-pkp.pl lists plenty of daily trains taking as little as 2:20h, no layovers, just a 1-minute halt in Warszawa Zachodnia.

Since I first wrote the above, I have taken the train from Krakow to Warsaw. I bought the ticket two days in advance, at the ticket counter in the brand new and spiffy Krakow Glowny (means "Main") station. I could have bought it the day of travel, there were plenty of empty seats. Nice modern train, free water/coffee/tea served at the seat, left at 09:40, arrived at 12 Noon, on schedule, took all of 2 h 20 m. 2nd class, 105 Zlotys (roughly USD 26).
