Useful travel health link

by Ramblinman »

There's a very comprehensive set of pdf mini-handbooks about travel health and safety put out by IAMAT (International Association for Medical Assistance to Travelers) here.  I have no special expertise in this area, but I know that IAMAT has been around for a long time as a nonprofit advising travelers on health.  They take contributions, but I don't think you need to be a member to use the information.  Their pamphlets are very detailed, and I think would make a good supplement to CDC and other sources.

I have been a member for many years  ..I have not  needed to use their network of doctors  ..which is a good thing  but  the other information is very valuable when travelling

This page gives 3 pretty decent and cheap travel insurance options for citizens from any country in the world, including Americans.

By the end, it also has some tips on how to make sure you get your money back from the travel insurance company if you have to pay out of pocket for treatment. That just confirms I will always try to use their network providers to avoid this headache.
