Bicycle tour of Ireland

by smnewt2000 »

My husband and I would like to do a bicycle tour of Ireland in October 2017.  We are thinking of 10 days.

A great idea if you get reasonable weather, or at least have the right clothes! In 10 days you will only be able to tackle one area, you might want to consider one of the profesional tour companies who organise cycling tours, not necessarily to book with them but to see suggested routes. Most tours are on the west coast of Ireland, along at least parts of the Wild Atlantic Way and can be as easy or difficult as you want to make them.

Have a look at the websites of IrelandbyBike, Cyclying Safaris GovisitIreland or Macadventures to get some ideas. Choose when to travel carefully, if you want to vist the west of Ireland remember the words 'wild' and 'atlantic' I love the west but admittedly from the comfort of a car!

I would add VBT.com and Cyclevents to the list. Please go as early in October as possible, because Ireland can get very chilly and rainy in fall.
