Which is better for safaris: Kenya or South Africa?

by JPasternack »

I'm intrigued by the idea of seeing Cape Town (Nelson Mandela and all that), but friends were telling me about their Kenyan safari and they said that Kenya has the most animals to see. Is that true? Also, when's the best time to go?

We did 11 day safari through the Masai Mara, Serengeti Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara then went to Zanzibar for 4 day beach vacation. Both were amazing. We saw everything we were hoping to on the safari. The highlights include waking up to elephants outside of our tent, seeing a lion take down a zebra, watching the wildebeest migration, and catching up with cheetahs!
Borderless tours & safaris ltd  www.borderlesstours.com   .. were great. They took care of everything. Richard, our safari guide, was awesome. He was informative, made sure that we saw a cheetah and leopard, and let us uses his binoculars (something that you should pack!).
From Arusha we flew to Zanzibar where Faustine (guide) and James (driver) from Borderless tours & safaris ltd.. met us. Faustine knows so much about his Island, giving us a tour of a spice farm and letting us know the history of Stone Town. The Dhow Boat cruise was a highlight!
Even though it was rainy season, it did not rain! The weather was excellent.

In my experience, it's beter a safari in Kenya. I have been there a couple of years ago and I had a very good experience.

The animals are truly in a big place and they enjoy their freedom. The guides are so profesional and you can travel with a Jeep with all the security.
