Fruit of the Philippines

by travel freak »

I have a good friend from the Philippines who is possibly the nicest person I know. She told me about the amazing local produce from her homeland. If you're heading there, try the tropical fruits like papayas and coconuts for an unforgettable snack. You won't regret it!

Always do.  Try a durian, once you get past the smell it is not too bad.

Do something a little more daring and sample a balut.    Smells as bad as a durian but totally different!

Happy eating.

Hi, koonal !   Welcome to the new Frommer's.  Jump in just anywhere.  The boards are wide open !

Previously I had  around a hundred or so posts under Koonel then the forum style changed and they disappeared.  After another hundred or so posts with Koonal they disappeared too when the forum style changed again. Had to start over again, no big deal!.

Okeydokey.

koonal -

That is a shame that your valuable posts went poof,  Perhaps you are not aware - this had to do with a change of ownership of the Frommer's forums, not a forum style change, per se.

Google bought the Frommer's brand from John Wiley and Sons.  A few months ago, Frommer's bought the brand back from Google.  However, in that handover, much of the content of the website was lost.

The Frommer's staff and a number of the regular contributors have been working to resurrect some of the old threads while getting the new site up and running.

If you happen to have copies of any of your old stuff, consider reposting it as trip reports or articles. If you have anything saved from others that you think would be valuable for resurrect, repost it with credit.

No problem.  I just go with the flow!

Thanks for the information.

Try their ripe mango it's very very good!

Also, one of my favorites is the halo halo...

I also love drinking coconut water as is it very good for our health - I love eating penoy over balut.
