Summary

Launched in 1916, Mercantile hauled cargo before windjammer pioneer Frank Swift converted her for passengers in 1942. She was named a National Historic Landmark in 1990.

Ambience: Onboard experience is tailored to the passengers aboard, with music and games if anyone's interested. When possible, guests can go ashore in the mornings, and on longer sailings, extra hiking time is available during the lobster bake. Cabins: Rustic cabins with bunks, a water basin, and battery-powered lights. Bathrooms/Showers: Two heads below deck and a third in the galley/dining area. One hot/cold freshwater shower.
