London's Marked-down Digs: Frugal Flats, a Budget B&B and More for February, March and April
Having lived in London for eight years, I can predict with some degree of accuracy that February this winter shouldn't be bitingly cold, thanks to the ameliorating climate usually borne to the British Isles by the Gulf Stream. Prices won't be jacked up for the tourist season yet to come, lines outside attractions should be quite short to virtually non-existent, and the holiday rush will be safely behind everyone. The chance to stay at The Coach House for as little as $50 a night (per person), with breakfast, remains a constant, however. more>

Prussia for Pfennigs: Air and Hotel Combos to Berlin (and Other German Cities) are On Sale Now
Savvy travelers and world observers have long known that there are at least two Germanys worth visiting, its most prominent regions being Bavaria (typified by its oddball capital, Munich) and its opposite in nature, Prussia, more exactly Berlin. Now, Continental Journeys, based in Los Angeles, is offering you a chance to see one of these proto typical places for prices, with air, starting at just $749. more>

What Are the Worst Five Places to Visit?
From Big Al: "Just to give another perspective on people's travels, I'd like to hear their experiences from the worst places they've visited. Just for the record, here's my worst top five in ascending order. Obviously a good few of you will disagree, but here are mine." more>

Rampant Problems with Credit Card Charges
From Catherine Player: "Just a warning to those considering a holiday in the Cook Islands. My husband and I have travelled the world, including most of the South Pacific. We visited the Cook Islands last summer, and we are still disputing not one, but four repeat, unauthorised charges to our credit cards from four different merchants on the island (we were being charged each month for the same purchase). The cooperation level has been appalling, and we've had to cancel our cards." more>

Botswana: Trip Reports
From Ann Jost: "We followed up a Tauck trip to South Africa last Aug/Sept with an extension to Botswana with Wilderness Safaris. We spent 3 nights at Little Vumbura and just loved it. The camp is small and only had 8 guests while we were there. The hosts were wonderful as were the accomodations (permanent tents with sink, toilet and glass enclosed shower as well as outdoor shower) and food (home style cooking). The cost was not inexpensive but well worth it." more>

Anne's Place in Aruba: a Trip Report
From Daphine Lambert: "Well, here's our report: We enjoyed an unforgetable vacation in Aruba. While on vacation, we stayed at Ann's Place. Ann's Place was downright PERFECT with all the accomodations of home. We found it to be a beautifully furnished 3 bedroom home with a FULL kitchen equipped with a stove (with pots/pans an dishes), refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and all of the appliances you could ever need -- including a washer and dryer. The home has air-conditioning, ceiling fans, a telephone, and television. We spent our mornings relaxing on the front porch reclining on the nice patio furniture and some evenings preparing dinner while listening to jazz on the cd player." more>

Viewing the Aurora Borealis in the Yukon
From Gloria Shelton: "We will be going to Inn on the Lake outside of Whitehorse (Yukon) in March for an Aurora Borealis viewing trip. I am SO excited about this great adventure! Has anyone done this and have any advice? I understand it can be a challenge for picture-taking." more>
