In a sign that the severe acute respiratory syndrome epidemic is abating, the World Health Organization on Friday lifted its travel advisories against Hong Kong and the neighboring province of Guangdong.
American was betting that more room in coach would mean travelers -- especially business travelers -- would choose comfort over the absolute lowest fares. Alas, that hasn't been the case.
Auto Europe's a great discounter, but occasionally they do something really fishy. That's understandable -- they're based in Portland, Maine, where their headquarters is about 75 feet from wharves where some of the best seafood in America is pulled out of the Atlantic. So in a move showing their Maine pride, they're offering chunks of premium seafood to their premium customers.
If you can get yourself to any Delta Airlines gateway in the USA, you can take advantage of a fabulous travel deal in Costa Rica, with a five-day (four-night) vacation starting from just $649 per person. That's the promise Sunny Land Tours is making for departures the rest of the month of May, so there's not much time. On the other hand, departures in June are just $50 more ($699).

From Elaine Hruschka: "My family recently returned from a 30-day custom trip to Chile, highlighted by visits through the Lake District (and over into Argentina), Torres del Paine, the Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego, Calafate (Argentine Glacier Parks), Punta Arenas, Ushuaia and Chiloe. We were extremely fortunate to enlist the services of the greatest travel agent in Chile, Pedro Chanceaulme. I found his name on www.frommers.com. He's a well-informed, enthusiastic perfectionist, guiding our choices of hotel/hostal/hospedaje as well as car rentals, boat trips, in-country flights and border taxes."
From Janet Wentworth: "I have just returned from a trip to Venice that included a one week cruise to Croatia and Montenegro. I understand Croatia is well visited by Europeans however there are probably others on this newsgroup (Americans, Australians, Canadians, etc.) who haven't given Croatia much thought as a travel destination. We had a wonderful trip and I would highly recommend the cruise to anyone who has not seen Croatia. This is a smaller ship destination cruise not a posh, chocolate-on-your-pillow, Las Vegas-entertainment type cruise."
From Karl Wolf: "If you are adventurer, travel Turkey without a tour group. I, at 58, spent a month there in the fall and had a extremely wonderful time. I had a backpack on my back and a guidebook in my pocket, took buses and saw everything I had wanted to and found some wonderful extra sites too. I wish more people would loosen up and not get tied into the group tour mentality."
From Rhonda N.: "If you are interested in visiting historic towns and haven't been to Eureka Springs Arkansas, you can learn more about it at www.eurekaspringsbest.com. Eureka Springs was chosen has one of America's Distinctive Destinations by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. It is located near Branson MO in the Ozark Mountains. It is a beautiful Victorian village that is filled with historical hotels, bed and breakfasts and much more. It is also home to the world famous Great Passion Play and Thorncrown Chapel."
From Surmikro: "I would like to visit some plantation homes on River Road, but I'm sure on where to begin on River Road. Any advice on where to pick up the road from Causeway Blvd? Any suggestions on Plantations? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!"
