VIA Rail and Amtrak have some serious sales going on right now, but you have to book soon.
It was only a short week ago that we told you about two amazing, short-term package deals to Tokyo and Bangkok for sale by Go-Today. Well, budget travelers, rejoice: they've just added laid back Bali and hustling Hong Kong to their expanding Asian itinerary.
It's time for another roundup of good eats at great prices in select cities across the U.S. and Canada.
These prices, which reflect a $30 per night discount, are good through January 5, 2004, if you mention "Frommers.com" when you book. The reduction is available to anyone who books through the company's website by July 1, but our readers get an additional six months at the lower rates.
In an attempt to "eliminate customer confusion," the ultra-low-fare travel agent knocked a bunch of bidding options off of its main screen. Some customers are crying foul.

From Joe Ruffo: "Are any airlines still offering free wine? What about the European airlines? I know it sounds trivial, but I found it very disappointing on a long American Airlines flight to South America that I was asked to pay for wine."
From Scott Seago: "I use an entertainment book when I travel. They are available for most major US cities and some for Canada. I purchased one for Hawaii at $35 from Entertainment.com online, and it was mailed to my home. While in Hawaii I was taking the exact same excursions, including transportation when offered in Waikiki for less than 50% off of what the package sellers recommend."
Dawn O'Dell: My husband and I are considering a trip to Jamaica and I am looking for a little advice. We are thinking about coming down mid-October and the company we are working through has suggested the Coral Seas on the Cliff resort. I'm looking for the insiders information on Jamaica as a vacation spot and also information on the Coral Seas on the Cliff Resort...any info is greatly appreciated!"
Lawrence S. Burris: "Why, in the discussion of European river cruises is Grand Circle Travel not mentioned, since they have several boats, including some new ones, that have been doing this for years? My wife and I went on one from Amsterdam to Vienna and had a great vacation. In fact, I seldom see any reference of any kind unless it a negative one about GCT."
From J.R.: "Seaside is great. It is expensive and very crowded during the summer. There are few places to stay on the beach (cause the road runs so close to it) and you have to cross the two-lane to get there (not a hike; just letting you know you aren't sitting right next to the waves). However, having said that, it is a neat place. The shops are cute, the restaurants good (again-most are $$$$) and they have free outdoor concerts a couple of nights a week in the summer."
