Fly Two Cross-Country From LA, Get One Free From Three Airlines
Angelenos are spoiled for airline choice. Not only do they have plenty of great connections across the Pacific, but LA is rife with airline competition. more>

Qantas' Fare "Down Under" $700
Airfares to Australia work like this: during the low season (that's now), there's usually a $798 sale going on from Air New Zealand, Qantas or United. There's often a $748 sale. There's only occasionally a $698 sale. Right now is one occasions. more>

Old School Deals: Touring Traditional Germany
Germany is leading some of its continental counterparts in several areas of tourism lately, offering in addition to the old standby of the Romantic Road and Rhine River cruises, the exciting ambience of the new Berlin and rock festivals. But a look at some samples we have today will attest that traditional sightseeing still has its charms. more>

Big Ben & The City of Light: London and Paris on the Cheap
Many moons ago, tourism from the US to Europe alternated from year to year, the larger number of travelers going one year to France, the next year to England. But Britain has taken first place for the past 34 years now, and for good reason. One should not overlook the City of Love, though, as deals are still to be found there. more>

Reader's Voice

Strangely Inconsistent Delta
From David Sizemore: "There seems to be no rhyme nor reason as to when food service is complimentary or not. For what the tickets cost for coach and the incredibly uncomfortable seats on the 757's for the mainland flights, you'd think meals would be free, but sometimes they charge, sometimes they don't. The 767's they use for the overseas portions are a little roomier -- I don't know why they don't use them more." more>

Tour Bus Bathrooms
From donnalyn: "There are emergency restrooms on the bus, but does that mean one can't use it unless it's a real emergency? My mom takes lots of medications and may not be able to wait an hour to get to a rest area. I also know that in Italy, public restrooms do not abound so it is kind of an important question. Additionally, can anyone give me an idea of a day in the life of a guided tour with a tour company?" more>

Newly Disabled Traveler Looking for Tips
From Megan G: "Armed with lots of time and my trusty walker, I want to plan some short trips to see some of our country's spectacular sights on my limited income. I have a neurological disorder of some kind which prevents me from driving a car, so transportation is turning out to be difficult in planning. Because I prefer peace and tranquility versus city bustle, most of my chosen destinations are off the beaten air or train path. I've worked out a few ideal itineraries such as a trip to see the Grand Canyon or to a little cabin in the woods and have encountered difficulties when trying to coordinate different combinations of air, train or bus travel. The combinations have proven to be either too complicated or too costly with lag times between one transport to the other or overnight stays." more>

Just Returned from Argentina: A Trip Report
From Eirleen Brown: "My family and I just spent two weeks in Argentina. I would like to impart some information. First of all, it is cold this time of the year, so bring layers of clothing. It can be very cool when you first wake up but it gets warmer as the day goes by. We found good hotels for reasonable prices in a good area of Argentina and food is incredibly cheap." more>

Ideas for Two 30-year Olds
From Jen Zutter: "We're planning our first vacation without our children. We'd like to go somewhere warm, with a beach, and that has some fun nightlife activity. We were considering Key West but some people told us there are no beaches there (I have to admit I was a little confused on that one!). We want to go in a few weeks and have no passports, so we figure we're US-bound." more>
