Rock, Roll & Save in the U.K.
As autumn approaches, it's time to drag out those postponed plans for visiting Great Britain, Scotland and Wales this year, before 2004 is down the drain. Even after peak season, there's always something to do in London, and driving tours in September and October provide some stunning countryside views. more>

Dutch Treats & French Suites on St. Maarten/St. Martin
The smallest island in the world to be shared by two sovereign nations, St. Maarten/St. Martin offers close to 40 powder-white beaches, over 400 gourmet restaurants, duty-free shopping, casinos and nightclubs. It's close proximity to St. Barts, Anguilla, and Saba provides easy access to daytrips. Right now, you can find discounts on travel through the fall. more>

Block Off Time for Block Island: Post-High Season Discounts Abound
East coast summer fun seekers know Block Island as an all-American island off the Rhode Island coast with winding roads, beautiful bluffs, white sandy beaches and a nightlife hotspot. What they might not know is the water's warmest in the fall when hotel rates go down, availability goes up and the island gets a notch quieter. It's a well-kept secret of natives that September through early October is when the island is at its best. more>

Reader's Voice

Good Reading to Pack for Paris
From Jen Kulak: "I'm heading to Paris for a week and looking for some good reads (NOT romances) that I can carry in my purse to pull out and read in the cafe, bistro, restaurant, or whenever I plop down in some wonderful park and just want to enjoy Paris. Any suggestions for something that will fit in my purse and might be appropriate for the area? Any and all formats acceptable, just not romance 'cause I don't need something to remind me that I'm traveling single!" more>

Medical Equipment for Travel
From Bruce Burns: "Does anyone take medical supplies along with them when they travel? I'm thinking about sterile needles and syringes, clean latex gloves, masks, sterile bandages, broad spectrum antibiotics and the like when traveling in countries where local access to these supplies may be very limited, or non-existent. One can easily get a doctor's prescription for these at home, and if an accident or sickness should occur, one could have these supplies available for one's own use in a local hospital. Would one have a problem having them in their checked baggage if they brought the prescrptions along?" more>

First Time in Europe: Money & Work Issues on Yearlong Trip
From Nisa Jaffar: "I am a solo female traveller, who will be travelling to Europe for the first time in early March or April 2005 and hoping to spend about a year there. Something that I'm concerned most with is the money issue. I'm fairly certain that at some point of time, I will run out of it. What are the kinds of work that are available to travellers, and how do I source these out Would love to hear some advice, particularly from those who'd spent years on the road. I would like to know how you did it. Thanks." more>

Must Sees in San Antonio
From P Howard: "We are planning a trip to San Antonio in November over Thanksgiving. What should we be sure not to miss? Is it advisable to have a car, or will we be fine without one? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!" more>

Rental Car Tips
From Linda Rich: "I'm looking for recommendations for rental car companies and how not to get ripped off. Do I have to buy the extra insurance to make sure companies don't charge for bogus damage? Which companies are good ones?" more>
