From Smasher: "I'm 10 months into a round-the-world trip and am approaching the final lap of my epic advernture. I've just landed in Ecuador and am pretty shocked at the expense though! Is it worth the expense? Have any of you got any shocking been-ripped-off stories about getting there and once you are there? Has anyone managed to experience this on the 'relative' cheap?"
From leslie leslie: "I stayed at the Radisson because of urging from Go Travel as well as recommendations from this list. Please listen to my advice -- if you are choosing between Radisson or the Hyatt, without a question choose the Hyatt! The Radisson is so far from 5 star that it's a joke."
From Hagus: "Expedia e-mailed me a confirmation number and charged the full price to my credit card. Four days prior to departure I decided to e-mail the hotel directly to get some additional information. I was surprised when they responded that there was no record of my reservation and that they were sold out."
From Dave C.: "I have noticed more and more hotels and resorts tacking on 'resort fees' that can be anywhere from $10 to 10% of your rate. If you actually notice this and ask the property, they say the fees are for the privilege of using the pool, fitness center, tennis courts, etc, even if you don't plan on using them."
Please, can someone suggest what we can do while on a 3 hour layover? In MSP I went to Mall of America while on a layover, and in CIN went to downtown Cincinnati as well as the Aquarium in KY, all on layovers. Any chance there's anything to do besides eat at O'Hare?
