From Steph Blumensaat: "My husband and I are leaving for Paris on December 1 for a week. We need cheap places to eat and I mean CHEAP not $20US a meal each. We are happy with plain simple food. (I know, it's a sin when in Paris.) I heard eating at the cafeteria in the hospitals and universities are options -- anyone tried this? What about department store cafeterias and, if so, which ones?
From Reegs Alexander: "I am planning on taking my cat with me from Colorado to Canada on Air Canada. She is a full grown cat, but is not huge. We have bought a soft sided carrier for her and would like to take her as a carry on into the cabin. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or recommendations for this trip."
From Widya Santoso: "I was in New York in August last year and am returning this December. I wondered if there are any new options for budget accommodation in Manhattan. Have any new establishments have just opened this year? Any replies would be appreciated!"
From Kay R: "I have just returned from my fourth trip with Rail Travel Center, located in Vermont. They specialize in trips for people who love trains of all kinds, from steam to high speed. This trip was in Colorado, and we rode most of the tourist trains in the state, including the Durango and Silverton, Cumbres and Toltec, and the Georgetown Loop."
From Joe Altschule: "My wife and I were in Europe for 3 weeks in September. Before going I alerted my bank that I would be using my ATM card frequently because I would be paying cash at certain hotels to obtain a discounted rate. I used the ATM in Paris, Florence and Rome; I always took proper precautions at the ATM window, trying to make the withdrawal quickly and privately. My card was never off my person, and of course, the PIN number is written nowhere. When I returned home I checked all of the transaction slips that I had kept, against my bank web site. Everything was correct. Ten days after we returned home I used my ATM card for the first time and I was denied...over the limit. Over $5,000 had been withdrawn in Milan begining the week I returned home.
