As temperatures start to fall, discount packager Affordable Poland dishes out competitive prices on both independent and escorted tours to middle and eastern European destinations, and we've annually touted the best they have to offer. Well, they've made it even easier for us this yea.
The 13th-century Castello di Garganzo, nestled in the Tuscan hills near Siena, Florence and Pisa, is up for grabs for weeklong stays in January and February from as little as $738 per person when four people stay together. But even with only two people, it's still affordable.
For a limited time, USAirways is cutting prices on nearby tropical places, just in time for the drop in the mercury. The sale is going on now through November 15 for travel through December 12 for most destinations. Departures are for off-peak travel with either a Saturday stay or three-day minimum required.

From Tatiana: "I went to Varadero, Cuba in August 2002. I love the Caribbean, and this has to be one of the most beautiful destinations that I have ever been to. Varadero is clean, tropical, and safe. I stayed at an idyllic resort called the Paradisus. The resort is designed in a low-level bungalow style. For people who are not fans of large, flashy, and high-rise resorts, this is the place to go. The resort is large and airy, especially the main lobby. The main lobby has marble floors, arches and pillars, and tropical colours--absolutely stunning!"
From Joseph Pizza: "A friend recently returned from a cruise of the Rhine River. It started in Amsterdam and traveled to France and Germany. The boat and crew were French. The crew was rude, the food was terrible, the German tour guide lied and told people not to get off the boat in various stops because the town was colsed. At a castle in Germany the tour guide said you can't go to the castle as there were rock slides and a 5-hour wait to get in. One person asked a van driver if there were rock slides and how long the wait. He replied no rock slides and 30 minute wait. Has anyone had experience with Collette, good or bad?"
From Doug Eads: "We made our first River Cruise this summer from Vienna to Amsterdam. We had done over 15 ocean cruises, but had not done any river cruises. We selected the Viking Cruise Line due to brochures we had picked up. It looked inviting having to unpack just once, and having tours easy to access and included. Our ship was the Viking Europe built in 2001. It was comfortable and the food was quite good. The best Travel tip a person can receive is one from a truly satisfied customer...that was Carol and I. The scenery was splendid...in fact our day on the Rhine was spent viewing lovely castle after castle. I also located the cruise line company on www.vikingrivercruises.com. We would utilize this firm again, as they seemed to care consistently about customer satisfaction."
From Jack S.: "Just returned from six nights in Vancouver, spending two nights in each of three different B&Bs, so I could sample more than just one on this visit."
From Anony Mouse: "U.S. citizens should be aware of the risks inherent in purchasing real estate in Mexico, and should exercise extreme caution before entering into any form of commitment to invest in property there. Investors must recognize the absolute need to obtain authoritative information and to hire competent Mexican legal counsel when contemplating any real estate investment. Mexican laws and practices regarding real estate differ substantially from those in the United States."
