As the end of the Hawaiian bargain season is drawing near -- a handful of plum packages are still to be had for discount travel to Maui or Oahu through mid-December.
It takes more than a daytrip to explore Catalina's beauty, not to mention water tours and then long walking trails that ascend up hills to expose marvelous island and ocean views.
Any mention of the Amalfi Coast or the Italian Riviera brings on goose bumps. It's off-season right now, and that means fewer tourists making it easier to get the exact room you want and to slurp down pasta and sip the local vintage at your own pace in the restaurant of your choice.

From J. Henry: "I am planning to fly to Beijing on All Nippon Airlines, but I've never flown with them before. Does anyone have either good or bad experiences with them to share? I really don't want another China Air experience -- that was truly horrible. Thank for your comments."
From Deborah Kennedy: "I have just returned from a visit to Buenos Aires with a son and daughter (both adults) and we all agreed that one of the highlights of our trip was a visit to the Estancia Los Dos Hermanos. Ana and Pancho Pena own the estancia and are personally involved in all the activities of the day. You can arrange with them to be picked up at your hotel and driven to the estancia where you will be served breakfast, spend time horse back riding, have a wonderful 'asado' lunch, more horseback riding and tea in the late afternoon. Ana is a gracious hostess and speaks excellent English."
From Carl Nelson: "I am planning a trip to Thailand next year and am wondering if I should include a few days to see Angkor Wat. It sounds amazing, but is it worth the trouble(visas, malaria pills, etc.)? Would I be better off spending the time in Thailand, extra days in Bangkok or Chiang Mai? How about the ruins at Lop Buri, are they comparable?"
From Mary C. Gillette: "My Husband and I will be taking a trip to San Francisco next month and decided to travel by car up the Pacific Coast Hwy. to Portland Oregon. Does anyone have any suggestions for Inns or restaurants along the way?"
From Eva Hennig: "We will spend 3 weeks in Ireland next June. Between driving around we would like to rent a boat for 3 days. Where is a good area to do round trips with a boat as we obviously will have a car sitting somewhere to which we will have to get back to?Or can you rent boats as one-way-rentals and they will bring the car to you? Thanks for any advise."
