There's nothing like a little competition to push travel prices even lower. Say hello to Vacation Europe, a direct to consumer travel provider trying to be the Jet Blue (cool services, low prices) of the package vacation world.
Although I have been to Thailand many times, this was my first trip to Phuket. During previous visits, I have always preferred to stay away from islands with large resorts and too many tourists -- opting instead for smaller more intimate settings, bungalows and backpackers.
U.S. parks are not just giant camp grounds where perfectly fit people rock climb, mountain bike, share bathrooms and sleep and cook outside, all while keeping an eye out for cooler-raiding bears. They are luxurious, affordable (although not always at the same time) and well-managed family destinations.
