If you can picture yourself on the beach with a drink in hand reading a good trashy book, diving with the creatures of the deep blue sea or even tooling along a jungle road, we've got a deal for you with this second sampler of sweet tropical deals.
January is the best time to hit the shops in London, when retailers from Harrod's to Doc Marten's to Burberry hold their biggest sales of the year. Discounts as much as 60% on good, solid British items (English china and woolens come to mind) can earn your travel money back if you find enough bargains.
Despite their hangovers, thousands of visitors to New York City head home on January 1 every year. Hotel operators then brace themselves for a month of low occupancies, fewer diners and smaller profits, while the staff think longingly of those holiday season tips. So, the bellhops and waiters scale down their domestic budgets, and the owners lower their prices. This is the time for savvy travelers to snatch deal in the Big Apple.
If you hurry, you may get a cabin on the world's most famous ship, the QE2, at prices up to 50% off for a cruise from Hawaii to Tahiti on January 24, 2003. While space remains, rates start as low as $999 per person. All prices are per person, two persons sharing a cabin.

From Al: "I just bought an Entertainment coupon book for Florida. Normally, I am not the type to go spend money to save money, but this was a no-brainer. They have coupons in it for 15% off Northwest Airlines or Continental Airlines flights, which you can book directly with Northwest or Continental online. There are also buy one meal, get one free coupons for quite a few restaurants including McDonalds, KFC, Taco Bell, the IHOP, and many local restaurants. Car rental coupons from Avis, Alamo, National,Budget and Hertz...the list goes on and on. I paid $15 for this book which included $10 off the normal price and free shipping. Well worth the money spent."
From Travelin-family: "I want to encourage families to go to Italy, whatever the age of your children. I just wanted to recommend Firenze in the winter (november, for us) and also commend our apartment-rental agency, MyItalianVacation.com. The weather was mild, our apartment spacious and in a great neighborhood, and our trip with a three-year old went wonderfully! We stayed for 10 absolutely fabulous days, can't wait to go back, and look forward to using MyItalianVacation again. Hopefully we can stay for longer, too!"
From Stephanie Pituc: "Hi! I'm going to Paris for the first time this December/Jan and will be there for New Years Eve. What kinds of things can I do but wont break the bank? I'm a poor college student and would love any suggestions!"
From SunnyBflo: "My husband just booked us into the Quad in June. He's looking for a wild time - I like fun - but not swinging. Is this the place for me?"
From beach bum: "From what we found on the web, the Huelo Point Flower Farm looked like a great place to stay, but what we got was drastically different from what was being offered. We missed two very important signs: The first indication that something wasn't right was that they wanted the entire stay payed up front in cash only, before we arrived. The second was that there hadn't been a positive write-up on the place since 1999. (I don't consider National Geographic for places to stay, so I'm not counting their 2001 write-up. It's also obvious they didn't stay there.)"
