Matt Hannafin reports on ship upgrades and redesigns, an environmental program for kids in the South Seas, new schedules and more.
Carnival is, of course, CARNIVAL -- the biggest cruise line, with the most ships, the flashiest decor, and the most name recognition of them all. So, this week, we decided to give them a little more room than usual so that we can report on three interesting (and in one case surprising) news items.
For most people, being served pina coladas by the pool is as good as it gets. They don't aspire to be more than a passenger on a pleasure cruise. A few others, though, are more ambitious. They need to drive the ship.

From c.1952: "This once-a-year cruise on the Constellation will travel to Paris, Cork, Dublin, Belfast, Glasgow, Geiranger, Hellesylt, Olden, Bergen, and Copenhagen. We really would like advice on excursions. They are expensive and we would like to take the best ones for each area."
From jennypenny: "I am headed to Belize City in June on a cruise. There are so many excursions to choose from. Can anyone give me some suggestions on the best excursions to take (I would really like to snorkel) and whether or not the on-board excursion through the cruise line are worth it?"
From kprins: "My parents are going on a cruise and have a few questions. If they want to get off the boat at a port but not do any excursions with the cruise line, is there a port fee of any sort to disembark? Also, how do the cruise people know you are on that ship when you return? Do they tag you when you leave the ship?"
From steffiekins: "Does anyone have experience with Mexican Riviera Cruises? What cruise lines were best for adults? Recommended port activities? I love to snorkel and my mom loves to shop and sightsee."
From windermere: "Does anyone know of cruise lines welcoming to children excluding the Carnival, RCI, et cetera? Thanks."
