Midwest Sale on Winter Travel

Midwest Airlines (tel. 800/452-2022; www.midwestairlines.com) has a new sale on winter travel, valid from December 1 through February 10. All tickets require a 3-night minimum stay and 14-day advance purchase. Fares must be booked by November 23.

Blackout dates are December 23 through December 30, and January 2 through January 3.

Sale fares are valid for off-peak travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Fares include:

• Appleton to Boston $158
• Appelton to Las Vegas $218
• Kansas City to Appleton $128
• Boston to Grand Rapids $168
• Denver to Green Bay $178
• Des Moines to Pittsburgh $138

Southwest's Thanksgiving Sale

If someone tried to pass get to Egypt for less than that. But it's mid-November, and we're just a week away from Thanksgiving, and the rules are a little different. People are willing to pay top dollar to belly up to the table next Thursday with the fam. Will they pay as much as $700-something? Eh, we sort of doubt it. Which is why we can't bring ourselves to list any of these Southwest (tel. 800/435-9792; www.southwest.com) fares on Airfarewatchdog. Too high! But if you absolutely must make the trip, it's not an entirely bad sale. Do a little rooting around and you'll find a reasonable fare here and there. Ahem, Boston to Baltimore $190 round-trip or New York to Chicago $252 round-trip. See? Those aren't so horrible. If you're in a pinch, and have the good fortune of living in or around a hub, you may come up with something just as reasonable.

If interested, this sale is good for travel from November 24 through December 2, and must be purchased by November 23.

Aeroflot's Global Sale

Try for a second to shake off old hang-ups you may have regarding Russian airline Aeroflot's (tel. 888/686-4949; usa.aeroflot.aero/eng/) safety record and check out the fares from their current Global Sale. Earlier in the week, we found New York to Cairo, Egypt for just $487, including taxes, for travel in February. We've noticed some of their lowest fares have sold out over the course of the week, but you can still snag some pretty unheard of fares to Egypt, Beirut, Latvia, Ukraine, and Russia.

This sale is good for travel from December 1 through March 27, with blackout dates from December 15 through January 15. Seats are very limited, and we've found the lowest fares to be available for travel in February.

Fares must be booked by November 30 and include:

American Airlines (tel. 800/433-7300; www.aa.com) has extended their sale to Central America, good for travel between January 5 and March 29. Fares start at $238 round-trip, before taxes, and require a lengthy 28-day advance purchase. Travelers may stay for a maximum of 3 months, and must stay for a minimum of 2 days. Al purchases must be made by 11:59pm CT, December 15.

Fares include:

• Boston to Guatemala City $372, incl. all taxes
• Baltimore to Managua, Nicaragua $377, incl. all taxes
• Newark to Managua, Nicaragua $377, incl. all taxes
• Los Angeles to Panama City $448, incl. all taxes

Air Jamaica Sale to Montego Bay & Kingston

Air Jamaica (tel. 800/523-5585; www.airjamaica.com) is offering discounted fares from select U.S. cities to Kingston and Montego Bay. This sale is valid for travel from January 19 through May 15, with fares starting at $354 round-trip, with taxes.

All fares must be purchased by November 24, and include:

• Baltimore to Montego Bay, Jamaica $510, incl. all taxes
