Revised: Those Tahiti Fares Make Good
Okay, we stand corrected. Either Air Tahiti Nui (tel. 877/824-4846; www.airtahitinui-usa.com) hadn't loaded its amazingly low $399 round-trip from Los Angeles to Papeete fares into its reservations system when they sent out a press release about touting the deals, or they've suddenly opened up more seats. When we looked a few days ago, we couldn't find seats anywhere near the advertised price. Now they are plentiful, and they are indeed a really good deal. Depart before December 31 and return by January 22. They also have lots of seats at $599 round-trip New York JFK to Tahiti. Book on their site only, nowhere else.
$158 Round-Trip Between Cleveland and West Coast Cities
You could pay American Airlines $319 or more to fly from Cleveland to San Francisco. Or you could pay US Airways (tel. 800/428-4322; www.usairways.com) $158 round-trip. We know which one you'll choose (unless you're a frequent flyer mileage junkie on AA)! Cleveland/Los Angeles is also $158. So is Cleveland/San Diego, and several other routes are covered by this unadvertised sale as well. Seats seem to open up from Jan 5 onward. There's no minimum stay required. Last day of travel is March 1. There are significant blackout dates, however, so we suggest using a Travelocity.com flexible travel date search. All the eligible routes are listed on Airfarewatchdog.com's Cleveland page (of course, they work in both directions, so if you live on the West Coast and want to visit Cleveland, the fares are also $158 round-trip). And this sale could disappear at any moment so act fast.
