Bummed out about fuel prices to Europe this summer? If you can wait another month and travel a little later, this six-night France package from Go-Today (tel. 800/227-3235; www.go-today.com) may fit the bill. Spend six nights -- three apiece in Paris and Nice -- from $1,239 with airfare for September travel.

In Paris, you'll stay at the pet-friendly Comfort Hotel Davout Nation, which offers wireless access in some rooms. Located in a residential area of the 20th arrondissement, the hotel is within walking distance of the M├ętro. Come September, the weather is still warm but the hordes of summer tourists have left. You can imagine much of the same in terms of visiting Nice in the fall: some say it's akin to Southern California's weather -- people are generally wearing sandals, swimming, and still donning summer attire. In Nice, the package price includes three nights at Hotel de Kent, another budget-friendly place within a quick walk to the old town and the beach.

Why is this a deal? A Kayak search for airfare in early September with a multi-stop itinerary starts at $1,234 with taxes -- about $15 shy of the starting package price. Booking a double-occupancy room in Paris at the Comfort Hotel starts around €80 euro (about $115 per night) or about $345 for three nights. A double room in September at Hotel de Kent starts around €98 per night (about $141 per night), or $423 for three nights. This means that based on two people traveling together, each person would expect to pay about $384, excluding taxes.

When compared to booking each component separately, this package (which comes to around $1,391 with taxes) would save you about $230 per person.

What the Quoted Price Gets You: Round-trip airfare from New York-JFK to Paris (returning from Nice); six nights' hotel (three in Paris, three in Nice); a flight from Paris to Nice; breakfast daily; hotel taxes and service charges; and airline fuel surcharge.

What Else You'll Have to Pay: Airport taxes and fees from $142

Book By: As soon as possible to ensure availability

When: Sept. 1-Oct. 25, 2011

Other Details: Hotel upgrades will generally put you closer to the city center or other attractions and improve your amenities.

All prices are per person and, if lodging is a component of the package, based upon two people traveling together (unless otherwise noted). The prices listed are general starting rates; see "What Else You'll Have to Pay" for details about associated taxes and fees. Base-prices, taxes, and fees can vary based on point of departure and time of travel. Blackout dates may apply. Trip add-ons like sightseeing tours and meal plans may also increase the price. Check with the tour operator for additional gateways and any single supplements, which is the extra cost that a solo traveler would pay to book the deal.
