Cathay Pacific Deals to India

You still have time to take advantage of Cathay Pacific's (tel. 800/233-2742; www.cathaypacific.com) Deal of the Month for August, featuring destinations throughout India. Sale fares are good for travel through September 30, and all purchases must be made by August 31. Although this sale includes travel from New York, LA, and San Francisco to Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Chennai, we found the best deals to be between the west coast and Chennai:

Frontier Grand Junction & St Louis Sales

Frontier (tel. 800/432-1359; www.frontierairlines.com) currently has two sales of note, the first of which is for fall travel to Grand Junction. These sale fares are available only on off-peak days, meaning Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday, and require a 14-day advance purchase. All travel must be completed by November 19, and tickets must be booked by September 2. Sound doable? Fare include:

The same rules apply to their other sale, this one for travel to St Louis. The only difference: all tickets must be purchased by August 18. Round-trip fares include:

Korean Air Fall Fares to Vietnam

Korean Air (tel. 800/438-5000; www.koreanair.com) has some great deals to Hanoi, Vietnam, as part of their current Fall Fare promotions. Depart from Atlanta, New York, or Washington DC for $1,334 round-trip, or $1,417 with taxes. All fares must be booked by August 25, for outbound, round-trip travel between September 1 and November 30.

Airtran Sale for Summer/Fall

Tough not every fare is a gem, there are definitely some real deals to be found in the latest sale from AirTran (tel. 800/AIR-TRAN; www.airtran.com). So skip the coast-to-coast offerings, and go for the fares to/from Atlanta, Burlington, San Antonio, and Houston for the lower fares. All tickets must be booked by midnight ET, August 26, for travel through November 18. Look for the lowest fares on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. And stay clear of September 1, the lone blackout date. Fares include:

American Airlines London Sale

Waiting for those summer crowds to thin before braving London? Or was it the sky-high summer fares keeping you away? Whatever your reason, you're in the clear. American Airlines has a sale for early fall travel from select US cities. These fares are valid for outbound travel September 2 through October 22, Monday through Wednesday, and require a Saturday night stay. All travel must be complete by November 21. Round-trip fares include:

20% Off Group Travel with JetBlue

Plan on zipping away this fall with your bowling league? Your bridge club? Cribbage team? Or maybe just your family? JetBlue's (tel. 800/538-2583; www.jetblue.com) current Jet Together and Save promo could save you some cash. This offer is good for travel between September 3 and October 31, and all trips must be booked by midnight MT, August 15. Hurry and you can just make it. Discounts and corresponding promo-codes are:

USA 3000 Early Bird Sale

The latest USA3000 (tel. 877/872-3000; www.usa3000airlines.com) "sale" installment again allows a $10 reduction for each flight segment purchased for domestic travel only between now and April 30, 2009.  Though they advertise these domestic routes to include their service to/from Ft. Myers, St. Pete and Ft. Lauderdale, the fact of the matter is that it largely applies to the Ft. Myers market only.  Service to/from St. Pete and Ft. Lauderdale ends early next week at the very latest.  Tough to book a round trip in those markets, though if you're only looking for a last minute one-way, we suppose it might possibly be useful.

In any event, the nitty-gritty of the matter is that you'll need to access the USA3000 site to book and enter the word "BIRD" in the promo box.  Be sure to check the flexible traveler box to find lowest fares, which range from $65 to $100 each way to/from Ft. Myers and Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and St. Louis.  Travel is permitted from now through April 30, 2009 and you know by now that not all dates will yield these fares.  Seats are limited and taxes and fees are additional. Tickets must be purchased no later than 11:59 p.m. EST on August 18.

So, even if you can't travel very soon and/or at the sample fares mentioned above, put $20 bucks in your pocket.  And pack light-no second bag- or you'll give that $20 and $5 more back to the airline as a second checked bag fee!
