Gate 1 Travel (tel. 800/682-3333; www.gate1travel.com) flies you to Spain with six nights split between Barcelona and Madrid, from $1,109 per person.

Barcelona and Madrid do not generally get bitterly cold in the winter months, making travel in late fall and winter still enjoyable. In November, you can expect temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s in Madrid and Barcelona.

Fly to Barcelona from the New York City area, and spend three nights in Barcelona at Hotel Aranea, in the Eixample neighborhood, not far from Gaudi's La Sagrada Família. In Madrid, you'll stay at the Novotel Madrid Puente de la Paz, a modern property located a few miles outside the city center but within a five-minute walk of a bus that can take you to the Prado and other attractions.

Why is this a deal? A November multi-stop itinerary (New York-JFK to Barcelona, Barcelona to Madrid, Madrid back to New York) starts from $1,061 for a nonstop flight. Three nights' hotel at Hotel Aranea in November would cost $225.79 for two people sharing a room. Three nights at Novotel Madrid Puente de la Paz would cost about $306.36 per room. This mean each person could expect to pay about $266 for six nights' hotel. If you booked this trip separately, you would have to pay at least $1,327 per person. Booking this package with Gate 1 saves you at least $218 per person.
