Three-Night Winter Getaway to Cancun, from $305 With Air

Save up to about $450 if you book this affordable Cancun package, which includes airfare and three nights at a beachfront resort.

Pleasant Holidays (tel. 800/742-9244; www.pleasantholidays.com) is offering a Cancun vacation at a great value: airfare with three nights' hotel, from $305 per person.

Stay at the beachfront Krystal Cancun, in the heart of Punta Cancun's activities, restaurants, and entertainment. It's on a white-sand beach but also has a pool that provides panoramic views. Deluxe rooms (one king or two double beds) have marble floors, flat-screen televisions, and a view of either Cancun Boulevard or the Caribbean Sea. The $305 package is not all-inclusive, but you can upgrade to the three-night all-inclusive package for $154 per person.

Why is this a deal? According to a Kayak search, the round-trip airfare is $218 for a Jan. 16 departure from Miami to Cancun. Three nights in a deluxe room, without the all-inclusive package, comes to $468 per person. If you booked the trip separately, you would pay $686 per person for the airfare and hotel. With taxes, the Pleasant Holidays package comes to $409 per person. Booking the basic package would then save you at least $277.

If you do decide to upgrade to the all-inclusive package (airfare and three nights from $563 per person, with taxes), the price would cover all your meals, unlimited alcohol and beverages (excluding the in-room mini bar), 24-hour room service, all use of non-motorized sports and the onsite gym, and gratuities. But if you were to book the hotel independently, three all-inclusive nights would cost $792 per person. Buying airfare and hotel on your own would cost $1,010 per person -- Pleasant Holidays' all-inclusive package saves you at least $447 per person.
