Sceptre Tours has this week's Smart Deal (tel. 800/221-0924; www.sceptretours.com), which puts you in Tuscany and Treviso for six nights, with airfare and a car rental.

Gather up your friends or family because this Italy package is designed for four people. The hotels included in the deal are geared toward those who want a relaxing holiday in properties that are close to but not in the thick of the action.

Spend your first and last nights in Treviso at the four-star Villa Pace Park Hotel Bolognese, less than 20 miles from Venice. The 95-room hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, a sauna, a Turkish bath, and a solarium for relaxation.

The trip also includes four nights at the four-star Fattoria Degli Usignoli, in Reggello -- about a 45-minute drive from Florence. This estate dates back to the 14th century and serves as a home base to explore the region's towns and cities, including Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca, and Arezzo. The rooms are actually like apartments, so they'll easily accommodate four people. The property has well-manicured gardens, swimming pools, an open-air amphitheater, plus you can enjoy an on-site restaurant, a farm with stables and horses, and bike rentals.

Add from $99 per person for a tasting and tour in the Chianti area and of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, a cheese tasting in Pienza, and lunch in Florence at Bibo Ristorante.

Sceptre advertises the savings of over $1,200 based on four travelers. A quick fare search for one-way flights to Florence from New York-JFK on Monday, April 25 found fares starting from $775. Return flights from Venice to JFK start at $820, putting the savings already at $616 without even considering hotel accommodations and the car rental.

What the Quoted Price Gets You: Airfare from the New York area (JFK or Newark) to Florence (returning from Venice); four nights in Reggello and two in Treviso; a weekly car rental with unlimited mileage and collision-damage waiver; and breakfast daily in Treviso.
