Frommer's Smart Deal of the Week: Greece by Land and By Sea from $1,059

Friendly Planet frequently runs promotions that are too good to pass up, and this Athens and Greek Isles Cruise, starting at $1,059, is no exception.

Friendly Planet (tel. 800/555-5765; www.friendlyplanet.com) frequently runs promotions that are too good to pass up, and this Athens and Greek Isles Cruise, starting at $1,059, is no exception. This sale price saves you up to $600 per couple if you book by the deadline, which the company assures us will be extended to at least August 14.

It includes round-trip airfare from New York-JFK, airline fuel surcharges, buffet breakfast daily, meals aboard the cruise, touring, transfers, the services of an English speaking tour guide and hotel accommodations at the Titania in Athens. From the Titania, situated in the heart of downtown Athens, you can reach the Plaka, Hadrian's Arch, the Archeological Museum and other attractions. Altogether, it's an eight-day, six-night trip; you start and finish in Athens; the middle of the trip is spent at sea on a cruise, stopping at Mykonos, Rhodes, and Patmos, along with Kusadasi, Turkey. There are a few departure dates left -- November 4 and 11, 2009 are available, as well as March 17 and 24, 2010, which start from $1,159, but note that Friendly Planet's tours typically sell out quickly.
