There are a number of specials holiday season trips being offered with a June 12 booking deadline, but we like "Paris Thanksgiving Escape," which is priced from $719 for travel November 16-26.

The trip's itinerary includes round-trip airfare to Paris based on New York-JFK, four nights of accommodations, daily continental breakfast, airline fuel surcharges, and hotel taxes and service charges (the advertised price of $719 doesn't include $120 extra in mandatory taxes and surcharges). It's an independent, budget-minded trip but you have the option of upgrading to superior accommodations for a more pricey starting point -- $1,269 for either the Francois Premier Hotel or the Keppler Hotel. The former is located in a restored townhouse from around 1900 and is just off the Champs-Elysees; the latter is also close to Champs-Elysees. The advertised starting price reflects the Comfort Hotel Lamarck, a budget property located in a residential neighborhood Sacre Coure, in the northern part of the city. Other departure gates are possible, such as Boston, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., for $40; add on $200 for Los Angeles, Houston, or Cleveland departures. You can also upgrade to a six-night vacation, priced from $779
